Step and repeat banners are popularly seen at events, launches and red carpet events. The step and repeat banners becomes the centre of attraction at any event and creating the right banner is very important.
A bad banner design can ruin the event and all pictures associated with it. It is important you take time to choose and design your step and repeat banner correctly. Here are a few tips in helping you create the perfect banner.
Good & Right Lighting
The most important part of an event is the lighting and since step and repeat banners are placed in a spot where you will click a number of photographs it is important to provide the banner with the right amount of light and instruct photographers to click photographs from angles which helps the banner to stand out and look good.
You need to ensure the lighting is not too bright or else the banner will blur out and make the banner look ugly. Always get a background light installed in the right place and set the step and repeat banner accordingly.
Check & Test Run
Always run a few tests before the actual event begins. Keep a generator handy just in case there is a power cut, and make sure the lighting is the same when the generator is on. Ask your photographer to click multiple shots and see which angle looks the best.
Remember sponsors are featured on the banner and if they are paying you they want to get noticed. If you have video recording, check the videos to see how the banner looks even on a tiny screen. Never do anything last minute and give yourself and your team enough time to set up everything. This leaves little room for error, and if there are any you have time to rectify it.
When you get the step and repeat banner from the printers, carry it properly and do not allow it to get wrinkled. The last thing you want is to have a wrinkled banner displayed at the centre of an event. The best way to avoid wrinkles is to neatly roll up the banner and carefully place it in a tube which you can purchase from your printers.
The tube will protect your step and repeat banner and avoid it from getting wrinkles and creases. If your banner does get creased you do not need to panic. Just hang the banner for a few hours ensuring it is tightly fitted at corners. This should help the banner regain its charm and look crisp again.
The sizes of sponsor logos are very important in step and repeat banners. You do not want your sponsors complaining that their logo is too small to be viewed.
Step and Repeat Logo Size
The typical size of a Step and Repeat logo should be anywhere between 9 inches to 11 inches wide. You could opt for reducing the size to about 5 inches but do not go any smaller or it will not feature well in photographs.
You want the logos to look as a part of the step and repeat banner and match the entire design. So do not play with them too much. Never tamper a logo, leave it in just as it is.
You should always ask your sponsors to provide you with high quality logo images to avoid pixelation and blur images.
