ASCII arts, also known as text art, dates back to the days when only 128 characters were available on the keyboard and when text symbols were used to create pictures. Now, the trend has changed a lot due to advancements in technology, but you may still have encountered these pictures somewhere on the internet.
Back in those days, printers lacked the graphics facility and characters were used in their stead because of this. Also, characters were being used to recognize differences between mark divisions and different print jobs from users. In addition mass printers were also being employed to use ASCII arts to print large banners and recognize the differences between users, manually with the help of a computer operator or clerk.
Today, the Unicode character allows thousands of options, but still ASCII arts has not faded away completely. Here are some awesome example of ASCII arts.
